Discover Cafe Sevilla Of Long Beach

The first time I walked into Cafe Sevilla Of Long Beach, I wasn’t just looking for dinner-I wanted an experience. Tucked right at 140 Pine Ave #2, Long Beach, CA 90802, United States, this Spanish restaurant feels like stepping off the Southern California sidewalk and into a lively corner of Andalusia. The warm lighting, tiled accents, and the hum of conversation instantly set the tone for what they proudly call Authentic Spanish Atmosphere.

I’ve dined here several times over the past few years, both for casual dinners and for special occasions, and the consistency stands out. According to the National Restaurant Association, diners increasingly prioritize experience and ambiance alongside food quality, and Cafe Sevilla delivers on both. The space transforms as the evening progresses-starting as a cozy tapas spot and evolving into a vibrant venue with live flamenco performances and Latin-inspired music. That transition is seamless, and it’s part of what keeps regulars coming back.

Let’s talk about the menu, because that’s where the magic really happens. Spanish cuisine revolves around fresh ingredients, bold spices like smoked paprika, and time-honored techniques. I once watched a server explain the paella-making process to a neighboring table. Traditional paella requires a wide, shallow pan to allow the rice to cook evenly and develop socarrat-the crispy layer at the bottom that culinary experts often describe as the hallmark of well-executed paella. True to form, their seafood paella arrives sizzling, layered with shrimp, mussels, and saffron-infused rice. It’s not just visually impressive; it tastes like it’s been simmered with patience.

The tapas selection is equally compelling. From garlic shrimp to Spanish chorizo sautéed in wine, each small plate is designed for sharing. In my experience, ordering three to four tapas per person works well, especially if you’re pairing them with one of their signature sangrias. Spanish dining culture emphasizes community and conversation, and Cafe Sevilla encourages that rhythm. You don’t rush through courses here-you savor them.

One evening, I brought colleagues from out of town who were skeptical about finding authentic European flavors in Southern California. By the end of the night, they were raving about the grilled octopus and the balance of flavors in the seafood stew. Reviews across major platforms echo similar sentiments, frequently highlighting the attentive service and the lively weekend entertainment. While every restaurant can have an off night, my visits have shown a solid level of professionalism in both the kitchen and front-of-house operations.

Beyond dinner, the location itself plays a big role. Situated in downtown Long Beach, it’s within walking distance of the waterfront and major attractions. That makes it ideal for date nights, birthday dinners, or even corporate gatherings. I’ve attended a private event here where the staff coordinated a multi-course tasting menu, explaining each dish’s regional roots in Spain. Their approach reflects a broader culinary commitment to cultural authenticity, something often emphasized by culinary institutions like the James Beard Foundation when discussing excellence in ethnic cuisine.

The drink program deserves attention too. Their wine list leans heavily into Spanish varietals-Tempranillo, Albariño, and Rioja selections-carefully curated to complement the menu. The bartenders also mix creative cocktails that blend Mediterranean ingredients with a modern twist. It’s a thoughtful pairing strategy, grounded in the idea that food and drink should enhance one another rather than compete.

Of course, no review would be complete without mentioning value. While Cafe Sevilla sits at a mid-to-upscale price point, the portion sizes and entertainment factor justify the cost. You’re not just paying for a meal; you’re paying for ambiance, music, and a sense of transportive dining. If you’re planning to visit on a weekend, reservations are highly recommended, especially during live show nights.

In a city filled with dining options, Cafe Sevilla stands out by blending traditional Spanish recipes with Southern California energy. From the richly seasoned paella to the energetic flamenco performances, every visit feels intentional and well-crafted. Whether you’re scanning reviews, exploring new locations downtown, or searching for a memorable tapas experience, this Pine Avenue gem consistently proves why it remains one of Long Beach’s most talked-about Spanish restaurants.

  • The food was great. Try their bread. It is fresh and comes with very tasty dipping sauce. Check out the happy hour - all tapas are half price. It is definitely a good deal to have any tapas for 50% off. However make quick decisions on food. The service could be quite slow as they are short staff. Give yourself at least 30-45 minutes to get seated and order food if you want to take an advantage of the happy hour.

  • It was the perfect date night! We opted for the 5 course Date Night menu. LITERALLY EVERYTHING we tasted was absolutely phenomenal! The service atmosphere, EVERYTHING was amazing! They even had live music while we were there. If you go and get the date night, use these pics to make your selections lol. See if you love it too... but you've gotta like flavorful foods. It was more than enough for the both of us.

  • The host service needs improvement. I give four stars to the food, the rice in the paella was very mushy, but it was great in flavor. Our favorite tapas so far are: the cheese and ham balls and the datiles rellenos!!! Super delicious!!!

  • I have reviewed Sevilla several times. It is my go-to place when in LA. However, in recent visits I have to say, service is starting to decline. From the bartenders to the doorman, it's just all going downhill. Food is still great though

  • The service was really good! The girls took the time to chat with me. I enjoyed the vegetarian paella, although a bit oily, portion was generous and the Pazo das Bruxas white wine was amazing.

  • The best hospitality experience I’ve had in the area. Ruben was incredible. Drinks were phenomenal. I've been here a handful of times before but never had Ruben as our bartender before. Highly recommend him if you're looking for a great cocktail and experience here.

  • Great Spanish Tapas restaurant in downtown Long Beach. The food was amazing! We had a large group of 16 people. Tables were set and ready for when we arrived. They allowed us to sit prior to members of our party to arrive. Full course meal included dessert. We ordered from one of the preset options which is well worth it. Plenty of food! Drinks are a bit expensive but well made. The live music entertainment during dinner was great and they have a dance club above the restaurant available for after dinner. Some members of our party attended. It’s a great atmosphere and service!
